To Whom It May Concern

I believe that Dr. Donald Paine has the proper gifts and training to be a good pastoral counselor.  Talking to several of his counselees in the last few days evoked much praise and thankfulness for his ministry to them over the last few years.  His counsel to them has been helpful and healing and that is what counseling is about.  His skills to deal with personal problems in counseling seem to come to the forefront in these private sessions.  I would recommend him to you as a pastoral counselor.

If you require further information, please call the District Office.

Don Paine was my pastor at Bethel Alliance Church in New Britain, CT when I was a student at Nyack College.  Don’s ministry played an important role in the formulation of my personal Christian beliefs.  I’ll always be grateful for his ministry to my mother who became a Christian at the age of 56 at Bethel Alliance Church, where she became a committed Christian leader.

Dear Don:

I am pleased to provide any who may be considering you as a resource for their own personal growth with this letter of reference for you to use as you may see fit.

I am grateful that for the more than thirty years we have known each other through our friendship, shared with each other through various levels of education and training, and served with each other through our calling to ministry in the local church.  I have enjoyed your positive spirit, profited from your insight into relationships and process, and worked with you on regional efforts to build people in the truth and spirit of their Christian faith.

However, as you might well confirm, it has been through our individual struggles shared and thought through that I have come to most respect and appreciate you.  You have brought balance between accepting responsibility for my own actions and not assuming responsibility for what I cannot control.  You have helped me to see options when I thought there were none and to think outside the box of my own dark night of the soul.  You have challenged my conceptions and helped me think more clearly about my life.

Surely God has gifted you with special insight and you have well prepared yourself with training that has only enhanced those gifts.  I am confident that those who seek your counsel will find a good listener and an advocate for their emotional and spiritual health.

Cordially,
Rev. Dr. W. David Thomas, President

"Rev. Don Paine clearly demonstrates a genuine warmth in and a willingness to carry out the activity of ministry in ways that are both traditional and unorthodox in appropriate and personal ways."

I have come to know Don through our work together on the worship committee for the NYC Marathon.  We have worked together for 13 years coordinating other ministers in order to lead worship for other runners several hours before the marathon begins.  Don is a well organized leader who inspires his fellow ministers as well as the several hundred worshiper-runners who attend the services. His ministry to the marathoners is a vital and important service for them and to share and spread God's Grace.

In my life, I have met an abundance of people from many walks of life.

Donald Paine is one of the rare few filled with integrity.  He provides a great balance of understanding, wisdom, and support.  Donald is non-judgmental and reassuring to those who have sought his counsel and friendship.  I find his spiritual understanding coupled with his well-rounded viewpoints and ability to explore new avenues extraordinary.  As one who counseled with him, I am deeply grateful for his ability to pull me through a very challenging period of my life.  From a personal standpoint, I am honored to call him friend.

To Whom It May Concern,

Re: Rev. Don Paine

I have known Rev. Paine for four years mainly through the worship services he conducts for the runners of the New York City Marathon.  The services occur the first Sunday of each November near the Staten Island entrance to the Verrazano Narrows Bridge.

Rev. Paine devotes a lot of time and energy in designing and implementing a worthwhile worship program.  He is diligent in preparing enlightening, uplifting, motivating, but Biblically-correct sermons and services for thousands of Christian runners.   The music he selects for pre-service listening and group singing is joyous and God-glorifying.  The interactive activities he performs with the congregation engage the runners and bring long-lasting smiles to their faces and souls.  His personality touches and inspires many people.

During the rest of the year, Rev. Paine assists worthwhile religious institutions from around the world.  Using his wise business sense, as well as his humbleness, he reaches for assistance from the people he has met through the New York Road Runners Club and other organizations.

I look forward to Rev. Paine's web site.  I am sure that it will provide much important information and help to keep its viewers God-centered.

Sincerely,
